K: 「～しようとする」はどうでしょう？
C: Well, when you want to show someone is making an effort to do something, um, using "try to 何々" is a good expression.
K: I see.
C: So, in this case, it'll be "his friend tried to call him."
K: But this doesn't mean that this person is going to carry out his what... purpose or end or anything.
