Write It!

◆ ピクニックに出かけます
J: Uh-huh. Well, we would say "go on a picnic." "Go on a 何々." Go on an adventure. Go on a trip. This time, we would say, "go on a picnic."

◆ 二人は
K: The two でよろしいですか?
C: All right, again, in the Japanese, if it's the direct translation... What is it? The two people?
K: Yeah, two people.
C: Well, I'd suggest keeping it simple here, and let's just use "they."

◆ ……することにします
J: A nice way to say it is "decide to 何々."
K: Uh-huh.

********

J: I'm sure they did. They always do.
C: Oh, yeah. They always do.
K: Great.
J: All right.

Before We Move On!

J: Well, let's see... Another way of saying it would be um... my phone is out of range.
C: Oh, yeah, yeah, that's a good one. "Out of range" meaning out of range of ... What? ... your service provider.
J: Right. There are no antennas anywhere near.
K: So, you can say ... What? ... We are out of rage.
J: We are out of range. Yes, you can say that as well. Uh-huh.

C: One of my favorites but not favorite phrase is "There is no signal here."
K: Signal...
C: Yes, signal.
K: Uh-huh.

J: A lot of the phones have bars.
C: Oh, that's right.
J: So, there is only have one bar or two bars.
C: And that means that the signal is weak.
J: Right.
C: There is a signal but it's not very strong.
J: No, it's weak.
C: It's a weak signal.
