◆ 欧米のメディア
J: Well, we don't necessarily have to say American media or...
K: European media?
J: European media or something like that. We can actually say "the Western media." That covers everything, huh?

◆ 傑作の1つが……というものです。
K: Florence, do you have any idea for saying this right in English?
F: Oh, I think we could say um... "a classis is about 何々."
K: Thank you.

J: I think they did.
F: Yes, I think they did very well.
K: All right.
J: I have faith in them.
F: Yes, yes.
K: Let's give them a big hand.
J: All right. Wonderful!
F: Brilliant!
K: All right.

Before We Move On!

K: Do you ever try to play a trick or a joke on April 1st?
J: I used to when I was a kid.
F: When I was a child.
J: Yes, I used to, but I don't anymore.
F: No. Same here.

J: When I was a kid, once I put sugar in the ketchup and told my parents that I thought that tomatoes were getting sweeter. Okay. But, later when I grew up, years ago, I had a girlfriend and I called her up to tell her I was coming home late and I pretended I was drunk. But I was such a good actor that she started crying and I felt really bad. I felt really, really bad. And so, I don't do it anymore.

K: Florence, what about you?
F: I did something similar. When I was a child, I... I put salt in the sugar bowl. So but it's strange, to me, they looked the same, but my mother knew. Immediately she said, "Who did this?" and so she scolded me really... it's ... really, and I decided not to do that anymore.

J: And Ken, how about you?
F: Yes. You... Do you do that? Or did you do that?
K: Well, I don't think Japanese people do that very much. But uh...
J: Well, April 1st is not really a Japanese... custom, is it? No.
F: It's not?
K: Yeah. But I tried one on my wife. I said, "your shoes untied." The classic, right?
J: Right.
F: It's cute. Yeah.
K: Shoes untied... and she waited, and then she looked down and looked at me and smile. It was safe.
J: Right.
F: Safe.
