==========
Write It!
==========
◆ 侍や芸術・祝い事に
K: How should it go, Carolyn?
C: Well, we already know part of it, right? It's "samurai" and "celebrations" from the dialog.
K: Right. Uh-huh.
C: One word that didn't appear in the dialog is the word "art."
C: So, the phrase is "samurai and in art and celebrations.
C: And we're gonna add the word "by" at the beginning. So, the whole thing is "by samurai and in art and celebrations."

◆ ……に使われるようになりました
J: Well, there's a couple of ways that we can say this, but we're going to stick to the pattern that's in the dialog.
K: Okay.
J: That's the most natural. So, it would be "began to be used."

◆ 使い始めました
K: begin to use というのを使いたいですが……。
C: Well, I'm not saying you can't use it.
K: Uh-huh. Uh-huh.
C: But instead of repeating the verb "begin" here, we can write something like "started using" or "started to use."

                    • -

C: Oh, year.
J: I know they did.
C: Always, always.
J: They always do.
C: Good job!
K: Oh, really.
C: Good job!
J: Beautiful.

==================
Before We Move On!
==================
K: OK, here's the first question.
C: OK.
J: All right.

K: Yeah. OK. Who is dressed in green?
J: Dressed in green?
K: ... can fly and loves puns?
J: Dressed in green, can fly and loves puns.
K: Uh-huh.
J: Uh... superman.

C: I'm gonna say "su-pun-man."
K: Super-pun.

J: I have no idea.
K: He's not dressing green though.
C: Ah, that's true.
K: Well, the answer is ...
C: Yeah?
K: Peter pan.

CJ: Ohhhhhh.....
J: That's actually pretty good.
K: I think you have one, right?

C: I sure do.
K: Okay.
C: Uh... Good luck with this one. Um... What do you call the phenomenon where countless people can't stop saying pus?

K: Would you say the question one more time, Carolyn?
C: Sure. What do you call the phenomenon where countless people can't stop saying puns?

K: Um....
C: What do you think?
K: Many, many people can't stop...
C: Right.
K: ... saying puns.

J: Uh...
C: All over the world... can't stop saying.

J: Pun-believable. (Unbelievable)
K: Ohh....
J: I don't know.
K: Nice try. Yes.
J: Yeah. I'm still cold though.
K: Listen, I'm stumped.

C: Okay.
J: Me too.
C: Well, the answer is a pandemic.

KJ: Ohhhh....
C: Right? ... which is a play on a pandemic.
J: Right. That's nice.
K: That was really good.

J: Okay, I have one too, in case you're interested.
C: Yeah.
J: Yes?
K: Yes.
J: How do you describe a person who can come up with a pun right away?

C: Oh. Uh...
K: You mean really, right, right away.
J: Like, really fast. Yeah... like immediately come up with something. Yes.
C: Quickly.
J: You're right. How do you describe a person who can come up with a pun right away?

C: I can't think of anything.
K: I can't either.
C: Uh... I don't know. I can think of a guess but I can't even guess.
K: Beats me.
J: It's a person who is spontaneous.

K: Spontaneous.
J: Yes.
K: Spontaneous person.
K: Spontaneous punster.

K: Open sesame.
J: We're getting worse.
