K: Jeff, are you ready, five times in one breath?
J: All right.

K: That was a sunny performance. Oh, my goodness.

J: Ohhhh!!
C: Very nice.

K: Jeff?
J: Well, No. 1, "It's hurricane season." Um... there is a time when it's hurricane season, but I don't think it's in November. So, I am doubtful that this is the right answer but let's check Carolyn's answer.

C: Ah! Well, No. 2 was, "It's always snowy." And I don't think that's the case. I mean I don't remember hearing anything about lots of snow. So, I'm not sure about that one. What about you, Ken, for No. 3?

K: My answer is, "It's sunny and breezy." Michael says it's sunny with cool breezes and I think this answer is the closest.
C: Yes.
K: ... to what it is.

All: So, the right answer is ...
K: No. 3, "It's sunny and breezy."

J: Way to go!
C: Yeah!
J: Beautiful!
C: Great.

◆ マイケルはジェシカに、……と告げます
J: Yeah, we are going to use the word "tell" or "tells." So, it would be "Michael tells," but we also need the object or who he's speaking to, so, "Michael tells Jessica, that 何々."

◆ AだけれどBと告げます
C: Well, yeah, like you said, we want to connect these two opposing ideas here.
K: Uh-huh.
C: But the first one is, "November is sunny and breezy."
K: Yeah.
C: And the second one is, "the trails are more crowded than never."
K: Right.
C: So, to connect these two opposing ideas, we'll use the word "but."
K: Okay.
C: So, it's "November it's sunny and breezy, but the trails are more crowded than ever."

C: But…
K: Yes?
C: Because the main verb of the sentence here is "tell," right?
K: Yeah, "tell" が main verb ですね。
C: So let's throw in the word "that" after the verb "tell." Um... So, it would be "tells 誰々 that 何々."
K: Okay, year, you're right. Yes.
C: And let's also use the word "that" after the word "but."

C: So, if we make it really simple, well, after all those words the pattern would be tells 誰々that A but that B.

J: I know they did.
C: Yeah, good work.
J: Good job.

K: Carolyn, Jeff… so, it can be a risk. Huh?
J: Yes for both people and dogs.
C: So, Jessica says they'd better postpone the hike until when?
K: Next month, but she asks, "What the weather's like in November?"
J: Right? And he says or his answer is "It's sunny with cool breezes."

K: That's very nice.
J: ... which sounds good
C: But…
J: But, there's always a "but."
C: There is a catch.

(There is a catch. 落とし穴がある。裏がある。魂胆がある。)

K: Very musical... "but"
J: Yes. It's all very nice in November except the hiking trails are packed with people, of course.

K: And he says it's without fail.
J: Right. You can count on it.
C: So disappointing.
K: Yeah.

C: Someone has to change the name hilltops to hill-downs or something.
K: Oh… disappointing….
J: You can see that again.
C: Oh, "Someone has to change."
