=====================
◆ Typical Expressions / Practice
=====================
(9:12)
R: OK guys, finding a common topic to talk about is a very important part of English conversation. So, let's practice.

D: All right everyone, are you ready? Let's try the first one. Here we go.
"Hey, Miranda. How are things? Is it true that Ms. Stravinsky got some kind of award?"

Let's try one more time.
"Hey, Miranda. How are things? Is it true that Ms. Stravinsky got some kind of award?"

R: OK, next example.
"Hi, John. How is your homework coming along?"
Let's try one more time.
"Hi, John. How is your homework coming along?"

D: You are doing great. Let's continue.
"Hi, Ben. What's up? Did you enjoy the surprise guest at our meeting?"
Let's go again.
"Hi, Ben. What's up? Did you enjoy the surprise guest at our meeting?"

R: And our last example.

And let's try one more time.

ラジオ英会話 Lesson 17 Tuesday, April 25 / May 2

===========
◆ Opening
===========
(0:22)
R: Hey, everyone, Akino Roza here. Ready for today's lesson?
D: Hi, guys, I'm David Evans. OK everyone, let's get ready and have a good day.

=====================
◆ Typical Expressions / Practice
=====================
(8:45)
D: All right, everyone, it's time to practice. Let's make good introductions. OK?

R: So, feel free to use your name when you practice, too. OK, here is the first example.
"Hi. Good to meet you. My name's Roza. Are you here by yourself?"

And let's try another variation.
"Hi. Good to meet you. My name's Roza. Are you having a good time?"

D: OK, everyone, let's try this next one together.
"Hi. I don't believe we've met. I'm David. Great party, isn't it?"

Let's look at "met." If you listen, I don't say "met." I say "me(t)." It's a very soft "t" sound. It's important for sounding natural. Try it together, "me(t)," "me(t)."

R: And of course, you can say "met," but "me(t)" is a very big characteristic of American English.

D: OK, everyone, let's go one more time.
"Hi. I don't believe we've met. I'm David. Great party, isn't it?

(10:18)
D: Great work.
R: Fantastic!

==========
◆ Ending

ラジオ英会話 Lesson 18 Wednesday, April 26 / May 3

===========
◆ Opening
===========
(0:16)
R: Onishi Hiroto desu. Hey, everyone, this is...
D: Akino Roza de--su. And I'm...
O: David Evans de--su.

=====================
◆ Typical Expressions / Practice
=====================
(8:45)
R: OK, guys, so, a word of advice from me. In English, we emphasize the words we feel are important. So, keep that in mind when you're practicing the greetings.

(word of advice ひとつのアドバイス)

D: Good advice, Roza. Also, tone is very important. It's your first impression. So, practice with us and get it perfect. For example, listen to this:
"Hello. I'm Gary from the Hotel New Onishi. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Versus...
"Hello. I'm Gary from the Hotel New Onishi. It's a pleasure to meet you."

The character is completely different. The tone creates this character. So, remember, use your tone to make a good impression.

Here we go.
"Hello. I'm Gary from the Hotel New Onishi. It's a pleasure to meet you."
One more time.
"Hello. I'm Gary from the Hotel New Onishi. It's a pleasure to meet you."

R: OK, next example.
"Hello. I'm Takeshi from the Osaka branch. It's a pleasure to meet you. How did you like my presentation?"

Now, did you hear my pronunciation of "meet you"? Try it like that.
"Hello. I'm Takeshi from the Osaka branch. It's a pleasure to meet you. How did you like my presentation?"

D: All right. Our last is short and sweet. Let's try together.
"Hello. I'm Heather. How do you do?"
And again, "Hello. I'm Heather. How do you do?"

(10:56)
R: Hey guys, I'm Roza and it was a pleasure practicing with you. Great job!
D: Great work, everyone.

==========
◆ Ending
==========
(14:42)
R: Be sure to tune in next time.
D: Keep doing your best and keep speaking all you can.
All: Bye!

(tune in チャンネルを~に合わせる)

D: Here is the first.
"Hi, I'm so pleased to meet you. I’ve heard so much about you."

R: OK, next example. Here I want you to focus on connecting "meet" and "you" … "meet you." Let's try it together.
"Nice to meet you. I've been looking forward to seeing you."
Excellent!

D: All right. Let's keep going. "It’s so nice to finally get to meet you."

R: And our last example, I want you to focus on the pronunciation of "an honor." Again, we connect it here, OK? "It’s an honor to meet you."
One more time. "It’s an honor to meet you."

(11:20)
R: Excellent!
D: Very good, everyone.

==========
