R: Akino Roza here.
D: And I'm David Evans. There's lots to do today. So, let's get started.
=================================
◆ During the Japanese Explanation Part
=================================
(3:26)
★ I would think not.
O: Roza, could you explain why "would" is used here?
R: The "would" here is used to express some level of uncertainty. Masami thinks about it and says, "Well, I would think not." Do you feel that uncertainty?
============================
◆ Typical Expressions / Practice
============================
(9:02)
R: OK, guys, let's practice what to say when you can't say.
D: Don't just limit yourself to one phrase. If you always say, "I don’t know," it doesn't always convey the right meaning. So, let's practice a lot of different ways to say, "I can't say."
OK, here we go.

Here's one more.

- It's hard to say.
And one more.
- It's not easy to say.
D: All right, and here's one more.

Let's go one more time.

◆ Typical Expressions / Practice
===========================
(9:24)
R: OK, guys, it's time to practice. Today, I want you to focus on the flow and really just enjoy practicing.
D: That’s really good advice, Roza. We don't say it enough, but we really do want you to enjoy the practice. So, let's jump right in.
R: This time, again, we're only going to be practicing the answers, not the questions.
D: Here's our first.
- Thank you, but I don't want to impose on you.
- That's a good suggestion, but I actually don't have a license.
R: Let's continue.
- No, thank you. I'm already full, I'm afraid.
- No, thank you. I would, but I'm afraid I just ate.
D: Good work so far. Let's continue.
- Thanks for asking, but I have plans this evening. Maybe next time?
R: When you refuse an invite it's a good idea to add an alternative date, like here, "Maybe next time?" And our last example.
- I appreciate the offer, but I'd like to handle this myself.
And one more,
- It's kind of you to offer, but I'd like to handle this myself.
(11:05)
D: These are all so much better than just saying "No." Don't you think?
R: Yeah, great point, David. You guys did fantastic.
D: Really great work today.

D: Ugh... He's practicing again, isn't he, Roza?
R: Sensei...
O: Hai.
R: Why do you need to practice for a situation that will never happen?
