K: How about you, the same dump question from Ken, Jeff?

C: What about you, Ken?
K: Oh, yeah, it's my whole long life or whatever it is.

K: Yeah,
J: And they're using the word "still."
K: Uh-huh.
J: I don't think you use that or something else. So, this is the good possibility, right? And Carolyn, how about you?
C: Well, No. 2 was "a cell phone." Now, I did hear the word "cellphone" in the dialog but I don't know.
J: Still using a cellphone?
C: Hey, no... doesn't really work, does it? What about No. 3, Ken?
K: Well, it seems like there is a very strong candidate Jeff has it, I think. So, "none of the above" doesn't apply here.
All: So, the right answer is No. 1, "a landline."
J: Congratulations.
C: Nice work.
K: You did it.

K: 「ある男性は」a certainとかでどうですか？
C: Well, I think if we translate this directly from the Japanese, it would be "a certain man," right?
K: Uh-huh.
C: But I think a simpler way to write it is by just using "a man."
C: It sounds more natural to me.
K: 「その男性」という特定感があるときは、どうでしょう？
J: Right. Well, we are going to use "the man." And this "the" puts emphasis on the man, the particular man in the story or the man you and I know.
J: So, we don't really need to emphasize by putting "the man," just "a man" is all right.

(emphasize [他動詞] 強調する
K: 「～と言っています」の部分は、直訳してよろしいですか？
J: Umm... It doesn't really translate "He is saying." Uh… So, no, not "He is saying."
J: We just simply say, "he says." Simple is best.
J: I know they did.
C: Oh, yeah.
K: All right.
C: Good job.
K: OK.
