C: Well, it seems like it should be OK. But actually, a couple, even when we're talking about two people, is the singular noun. So it needs a singular verb. So, it'll be, "The couple goes out for a walk."

J: Right. Well, this is a pattern for putting three sentences together in one. You say A, B and C. Sentence A, sentence B and, you add the word "and," sentence C.

J: Well, we have a convenient, little phrase or little word "catch up."

C: Well, I would recommend writing "later that day." It's an objective way to talk about time. Um, it doesn't have to be today. It's just describing a situation.
★ 翌日が早い
K: tomorrow ではないのですね？
J: Right. Well, just like Carolyn said, if it's conversation, you might use "tomorrow," but we're describing something. So, in order to be more objective, you would use the phrase "the next day." So it goes "has an early day the next day."
★ 行くことができません
K: can't go でよろしいですか？
C: Yeah, it's not wrong. But I think maybe a nicer way to phrase it would be using "can't make it." It just feels a little bit more... friendlier and it sounds like you tried to go but you couldn't.
J: Two friends catch up at a cafe. Later that day, the woman is going to watch the meteor shower. The man has an early day the next day, so he cannot make it.

J: Well, it is definitely about Bingo.

J: Because they said it several times. The Rainbow Town Women's Society is sponsoring Bingo Night.
J: To raise money for a new carpet for the library.
K: Oh, that's uh...
J: That's a mouthful.
C: But they'll get a lovely carpet out of it. So...
J: That's right.
C: It's worth it to go down there and play.
K: Right.
C: So how much would it cost again if we to go? I can't (re...), I think she said it was ... what?
J: It wasn't bad. It was $12.
C: Oh, that is pretty good.
J: And family members and guests are just $4, which is even better.
C: Oh, so you pay $12 and then you bring a friend in that's plus $4.
J: Right. So it's pretty economical.
C: Good.

J: They're a little expensive.
C: The hot dogs were $7 (seven dollars).
J: And hamburgers are $7.50 (seven fifty).
C: That's not cheap, right?
J: No. But it is for a good cause. So, I guess you're paying for charity.
C: Yeah. That's true.
J: For the new carpet.
