That was a long "Oh!"
Yes. Very disappointed.

                        • -

So, what's another situation going to be like this time?
Everything seems to go swimmingly.
(swimmingly = smoothly)

                  • -

Excuse me. Could you help me find a text book?
Sure. What's the ISBN?
I have it written down.... Here it is.
Yes. The August issue if you have it.
Got it. Anything else?
I have quite a lengthy list.
Hand me your list.
Okay.
We've got most of these.
Great!
Do you happen to need "Radio English Conversation" August issue?
No thanks. I've got it.
Yes!

So, Ken, what are you going to say for the ending.
Oh, I have it written down here. Here's one for you.
Oh, okay.
Keep listening.
Keep practicing.
And keep on smiling.
Bye!
Good job!

Tuesday, August 9

So, what's another situation going to be like, Jeff?
It's a motivational dialogue?

                          • -

Excuse me. Is this psych 303?
Yeah. Psychology of Motivation, right?
(Psychology = the science of mental life, the scientific study of the way the human mind works and how it influences behavior, or the influence of a particular person's character on their behavior)
Yes. Is class over?
No. The professor hasn't shown up yet. Perhaps she is not so motivated today.
[Laughter] I'm Jessica.
Hi, I'm Yoshi. There's a vacant seat next to me.
Thanks. The textbook for this class was sold out at the book store.
Yeah. It seems like the class is pretty motivated. You can order it from textbooksinthemorning.com. It ships overnight.
Thanks for the tip! How about lunch on me?
(lunch on me = I’ll pay your lunch)
I'm highly motivated!

                      • -

Well, I'm getting hungry too. Is sushi here yet?
No, the sushi man hasn't shown up yet.
I think I'm going to sue that sushi shop.
(sue = to make a legal claim against someone, usually to get money from them because they have done something bad to you)
Oh, my goodness.

So, Katie, what's another situation going to be like this time?
Ken, they are secret agents.

                  • -

Do you know where the intelligence office is?
Yeah. The intelligence office is in the James Bond Building which is a bunch of restaurants crammed into three floors.
Come again?
Do you have a map of the campus?
I did, but I misplaced it.
Take mine.
You don't need it?
Nah. I have the campus layout down pat.
(have something down pat = know/understand something completely and thoroughly.)
Oh! Thanks much. So where is the intelligence office?
It's in the Japanese restaurant called "Akko-chan."
Got it.

                                • -

Yeah, Akko-chan, very, very important spot, place. Well…
Let's see. I can't seem to find our notes, but did you need a script for the ending, Ken? Or so…
No. I think I have all the lines down pat.
Down pat. All right.

Well, it goes like ...
Well, that’s about it for today. So until next time …
Keep listening.
There you go!
Keep practicing.
There YOU go.
And keep on smiling.
You've got it down pat.

Oh, this time, they are very emotional people.

Hey, Jessica. How's it going?
Not so good.
What? What happened?
Well, where should I begin? Okay, first of all, most of the textbooks I need are sold out.
Really? I got all mine.
Wow! You lucked out!
I guess so. Ha-ha… Sorry, I wasn't laughing at you.
I was laughing at you.
Then I went to the wrong class. The professor took roll call and didn't call my name!
Oh, that must have been embarrassing.
(embarrassing = making you feel nervous, ashamed, or stupid / awkward, unpleasant)
It was. And last but not least...
(last but not least = importantly, despite being mentioned after everyone else)
Yes?
I missed Rajio-Eikaiwa this morning!
Ouch! Oh, that was tragic. You may never get over that. Oh, I feel so sorry for you.

Wow! What an emotional ending there.
It was.

Well, that’s about it for today. So until next time…
Keep practicing.
Keep listening.
And keep on studying.
Oh?
Oh?
I think we did the wrong ending.
I think so too.
Well, anyway…
Bye!
