K: hear
Y: Uh-huh. The pattern that we could use ... uh, using here would be "hear somebody doing something."
So, in this case, we can say "hear some people chanting something."

J: Well, there's several ways that you can say it, "the event that involves throwing beans blah, blah, blah.... But we want to simplify it, the way the Japanese is simplified. So, we are going to say, "the bean throwing event."
Y: Nice and simple.

Y: Well, we can simply use "talks about 何々 as a kid."
Y: Uh-huh. But when you're talking about something when you were a kid, you'd talk about memories and you looked back You have this ...
J: Nostalgic.
Y: Yeah, that feeling. In that case, you can use "reminisce." It's a beautiful word, "reminisce."
Y: So, instead of "talks about," you can say "reminisces about 何々 as a kid."

**************

J: I know they did.
Y: Yes. I'm sure.
K: All right.
J: Good job.

Before We Move On!
==================
K: This time, Dad Demon and kid Demon are talking.

K: Ah!? What's going on?
D: They're throwing roasted soybeans to purify their house and bring luck in.
K: What are they saying?
D: "Demons out! Fortune in!" As a kid, I'd run away from them, and end up on the roof with mom and dad.
K: Oh, how exciting.
D: Then we all jumped down and ate the beans on the ground.
K: That would be fun. Why are we doing that, dad?
D: Because we live in their storage shed and they don't know it.
