J: Well, we can either follow the pattern that's Japanese order, which is "his wife Sally." Or we can use the reverse order, which is "Sally, his wife."

C: And there are two ways I’d recommend doing this. For the first way, I'd use the verb "says."
K: OK.
C: And the pattern we want to use is "says to 何々."
K: Uh-huh.
C: And here the "says to" is really a way to express giving directions.

C: So, it'll be "Sally says to 何々."
K: So, this 何々 is not the person …
C: Right.
K: … but it's some action.
C: Yeah, exactly. Yeah, we are not saying to anyone.

C: For the second way, we can use the verb "tell." And here, it'll be "Sally tells him to 何々."
C: When we use the verb "tell," we have to say who we are talking to.
