When I think of a win-win situation, I think of something that benefits both parties involved. Being able to trust someone to look out for you and give you straight information is a win, and the company also wins because they get a keep a customer.

It almost seems as though this is a task that Sylvia gave him that he doesn't feel passion it about and maybe doesn't even want to go. It also seems as though he is going there to persuade Richard all by himself.

But from an American perspective, it's important to know what he brings to the table and how it will help the situation. It would be good to explain the specific concerns he has.

I agree that the title is much more important than age. And I think it's common for people to be concerned with their job titles or lacking years of experience, but the most important thing is to show what you can bring to the table and how your unique skillset can help this situation.
