J: He hadn't even paid it. And the third one hired a sea captain to go and get a fire rat but evidently it wasn't a real one.
C: No.
J: Because when they thew it in the fire, it burst into flame.
C: Yeah.
J: And we all know the fire rats' hides don't burn.

K: Yeah, it wasn't supposed to burn or anything.
J: So, it was just regular rat, I guess, probably.
C: And then the fourth one, when he actually hired some man to go to the Isle of the Dragon to get the jewel but uh... but they took off with his money.
(isle = 島 island)
(take off = 立ち去る、行ってしまう)
J: Yeah.
K: Well...
C: So, he went on his own, right? So he decided to do on his own.
J: He did. He did.
C: He got caught in a storm unfortunately.
(get caught = 捕まる)
J: And the fifth one had the most impossible task, I think.
C: Okay.
J: But at least he tried. He's probably still trying now.
C: I was gonna (going to) say ... yeah... he's tried for a long time.
K: They all sound like huge stories of mismanagement. Oh, my goodness.
(mismanagement = 失態、不始末)

C: No. They felt so numb that they all dropped their weapons.
J: So with resolution she decided to go back.
K: Right.
C: Oh, I don't know. Did she have a choice?
J: Not really.
K: So, those people, I'm air quoting, but uh... "those people," came from the moon ...
(air quotes = 会話をしている最中に両手をピースサインにして、それぞれの人差し指と中指をチョンチョンと2回曲げる動作)
J: People from the moon.
C: Yeah.
K: And they took her away.
J: Yeah. But she did leave a present for the emperor.
C: Yap, only for the emperor though.
K: Not for her parents.
C: No.

C: I'm sure the listeners loved it too.
