C: It's practice time. Now, guys, I'm sure you remember that the direction of "look" is outwards while the direction of "see" is inwards.

(outwards 外側へ向かう going out or away from a place)
(inwards 内側へ向かう towards the inside)

Therefore, it's natural for "see" to have the meaning of thinking, understanding, imagining, checking, all our inside mental activities. So, let's practice these.

R: And think in English.
C: The first one is a great example, "I see." It's crazy to say "I look" because "look" is only outwards. We need an inwards motion here. So, let's practice together.

OK. This will give you the feeling of listening, like "look," it's an outward direction. You're deliberately pushing outward to catch whatever noise or whatever somebody is saying. OK? So, with that in mind, let's try.

R: Here too, you get that motion of the hand behind the ear. Listening close, right? So, here we go.

C: OK, it's practice time. I'm sure you remember the pair, "look and see." "Look," the motion was outwards and "see" was inwards. I'm looking and looking and, “Ah! Now, I see it.”

Well, it's the same with this pair, "listen and hear." "Listen" is outwards. I'm listening, I'm listening and then inwards with "hear." So, it's the same feeling, right? Shall we try that then?

C: So, let's practice these sentences. "Did you hear that noise?" So, you listen and listen then ボン inwards, it comes and you catch it. "Did you hear that noise?"

C: OK guys, are you ready to practice? So, we're looking today at verbs of the senses, and one characteristic of these is that there is an inward and outward side to them.

For example, "Taste this." “Maybe it needs some more salt” … is outward, you are checking whereas "Umm... this tastes too spicy." It's already inside. It's how something tastes. Let's concentrate on practicing with this in mind.
