C: OK, guys. It's time to practice. Now here, we want you to grasp the basic feeling of "run," which has two parts. One is speedy motion, speed, and the other, along a line. So, let's practice with that in our minds.

"The buses run every 20 minutes." You can feel the line with the buses are passing through, fast, fast, fast. So, after me, "The buses run every 20 minutes."

R: Here're some more examples, "The road runs around the campus."
"The path runs around the campus."
And one more, "The fence runs around the campus."

C: OK, let's move on. This one, "Time is running short." Here, we've got the same feeling of speed, and on a line plus the idea of change. The normal length of time has changed to a short length. So, here we go, after me, "Time is running short."

R: And these last few also have the run nuance, "run a program," "run a machine," "run an engine."
