K: OK, Jeff, what do you think of your answer?
J: My answer, "It picked up quickly." Uh... I don't remember hearing quickly in the dialog. So, I... I, I have my doubts about this one. Carolyn, how about your answer?

C: Well, my answer was, "It picked up in the Galapagos Islands."
J: Hmm...
C: And that option seems a little bit strange to me. I'm thinking this might not be the one. What about No. 3, Ken?

K: Oh, yeah, which is, "It didn't pick up." Now, we hear the words "pick up" in the dialog and I think it's used in a negative sort of way.
C: Yes.
K: So, I think mine is a strong candidate.
K: So...
All: The right answer is No. 3. "It didn't pick up."

K: 「ガラケーはユニークでしたが孤立していました」という部分なんですけれどもねえ。
J: Right. There are two ways we can say this. The first way would be "Galakei was unique, but it was isolated."
J: Make it even shorter. We can cut "It was" and just say, "Galakei was unique, but isolated."

J: You know it was.
C: Of course, good work.
K: All right.

Ending Small Talk

J: So, I was wondering what the word "Galapagos" means.
C: Oh, I think I know the answer to this.
J: Oh, you do?
K: Oh, you do.
J: Oh!
C: Just a second. Yeah, it means a tortoise, especially a large tortoise of the Galapagos island.
J: Ah, the big ones.

K: So, that the large tortoise.
J: And what language is that?
C: Spanish.
K: Wow.
J: Oh! Yeah. How do you know all this, Carolyn?
C: My cellphone dictionary taught me.
J: Oh.
C: I mean taught us. (tortoise)
K: Oh, my goodness.
J: As it tortoise.
C: As it tortoise.
K: Yeah.

(As it tortoise. = taught usそのままだよね。tortoise と taught us で発音が同じようだということ)
