ラジオ英会話   Monday, November 1

R: Hey, everyone, Akino Roza here. Ready for today's lesson?
C: Hi, guys, Chris McVay here. So, Roza, the first time you saw Onishi-sensei in the fresh moving, did that bother you?
R: Very much.
C: I imagine.

R: It's good to go over past lessons in the textbook. You can learn so much.
C: And it's refreshing.

O: Hey, Chris, why is badminton so called?
C: Well, the origins are quite obscure but I think it comes from the name of Badminton House.

(obscure あいまい、不明瞭 not discovered or known about; uncertain)
(Badminton House バドミントンハウスは、イギリスのグロスターシャー州バドミントンにある大きなカントリーハウス)

R: Oh, I didn't know that.

◆ Who is this, please? の代わりに Who are you? を使うと……
O: What does it mean "Who are you?"

ラジオ英会話   Wednesday, November 3

O: Hmm... extreme opinionsか…
R: I prefer extreme sports. Hey, everyone, Akino Roza. Are you excited for today's lesson?
C: Chris MacVay here. Roza, I can't believe you actually get along with Onishi-sensei.
R: Neither can I.

(extreme sports = bungee jumping; bouldering; sky diving)
===

R: Hey, Chris, I saw a post of our textbook on Christagram. Everyone was smiling.
C: Even me?
R: Yes, even you.
=======

C: OK, guys, are you ready to practice the key sentence?
"I might go to karaoke with her."
Now, here, I want you to do something a little bit different. I want you to lean your head to one side. This will really emphasize the uncertainty involved here. "I will go to karaoke." No, it's "I might go to karaoke." "I might go to karaoke with her." So, try that with leaning your head to one side. "I might go to karaoke with her." Try!

Hmm... some of you didn't move your head. Let's try with moving your head. "I might go to karaoke with her." Try!

That's much better. Well done.

O: Hey, guys, what's your favorite song at karaoke?
C: Hmm... My favorite song, or at least one of my favorite songs would be "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton.
O: How about you, Roza?
R: Mine is "津軽海峡冬景色."

C: Oops. I'm in trouble.

(How dare you! よくもまあ!)
======

C: Our textbook will help you do a really effective English workout. Give it a try.
O: I use the same textbook.

O: Hey, Chris, what do you do?
C: I'm a university professor.
O: How about you, Roza? What do you do?
R: Oh, I make fun of Onishi-sensei during our recordings.

(make fun of からかう tease, laugh at, or joke about (someone) in a mocking way)
