(shame = [名] 恥 ashamed = [形] 恥ずかしい)
(embarrassment = [名] 恥ずかしさ embarrassed = [形] 恥ずかしい)

If you are ashamed, you feel sorry about something you did wrong.
● I'm ashamed of the way I treated my friend. I was really selfish, and now I've hurt them.
● I'm ashamed of cheating on the exam. It goes against everything I believe in, and I regret it deeply.
● I'm ashamed of my behavior at the party last night. I drank too much and said things I shouldn't have.
If you are embarrassed, you are worried that people will laugh at you or think you are foolish.
● I'm embarrassed because I tripped and fell in front of everyone at the mall.
● I'm embarrassed that I forgot my lines during the school play. It was really awkward."
● I'm embarrassed about the way my stomach growled loudly during the silent moment in class.
「I'm ashamed」は自分の行動や選択に関連して深い後悔や責任感を示す場合に使われるのに対し、「I'm embarrassed」は予期せぬ出来事や他人の目に触れた自分の行動によって起こる恥ずかしさを示す場合に使われる
