ラジオ英会話 Monday, April 13

So, what’s another situation going to be like, Katie?
Well, I’m looking forward to the recipe. Mariah is making a slightly different smoothie.

                                      • -

I could really go for a rainbow smoothie. Do you want one, Kyle?
Well, I don't know, Mariah. I think I'll pass.
It's my all-time favorite drink.
What's in it?
Carrot, chocolate, cucumber, peach, sponge cake, honey, spinach, strawberry jam.
That's not for me.
Just take a sip.
I prefer soda to this stuff.
Drink a little more. It'll grow on you.
Maybe later.

No rainbow, no sunny day.
Somewhere over the rainbow
I love that song.

                                                          • -

How would you like my rainbow smoothie, Ken?
Uh… that's not for me.
It'll grow on you.
OK. Maybe later.
Oh.

ラジオ英会話 Tuesday, April 14

Are they friends, enemies or what?
They just have differing opinion.
Yes.
Oh, yes. You are right.

                                          • -

So Jeff.
Uh-huh.
What’s new situation, another situation going to be like this time?
Well, this happens al l the time. The conversation immediately turns into a heated discussion.

                                              • -

Did you see Undergrounders?
Yeah. I didn't think much of it.
Really? I thought it was riveting!
Riveting? Oh yes. My eyes were riveted on my popcorn, not the screen.
How can you say that to a cinematic masterpiece?
(cinematic masterpiece = 傑作映画)
Well, the acting was simply mediocre.
I don't agree. It was a powerhouse acting ensemble. And I thought the car chase scene was spectacular!
(powerhouse acting ensemble = そうそうたる[エネルギッシュな]演技が、全体として統一感を持つ)
It seemed pointless to me.
You have to admit that the ending was cool.
I wouldn't know. I slept through it.
You're impossible!
Not as impossible as that movie!

                                                              • -

Well, they both have very strong opinions.
Yeah, it was pretty heated, really.
Yes.
Wow!
It's just a movie.
So, what did you think of another situation?
It thought it was riveting
Hmm… I didn't think much of it.
I knew you were going to say that.
I mean the woman was really good.

Oh!
Di … di … did you hear that, Jeff?
I … I … I can't believe my ears.
Well, what about the man?
Oh…
Mediocre?
No, he was riveting, riveting!

She really doesn’t like it.
Differing opinions again.
Yes.

                                                  • -

So Katie…
Yes, sir.
What’s another situation going to be?
Well, Diane secretly knows that the photo is well-taken.

                                                      • -

It didn't turn out very well.
Let me see it.
Okay.
Oh, my …
I told you, Daikichi. I look ridiculous!
No, you don't. You look really…. Wow! You look great in this photo.
Really?
Yes.
You look wonderful, beautiful, Diane.
My eyes are half-closed. I can't live with this.
That makes you look even more… What's the word? Charming! I only see your beauty.
Oh, thanks. Would you do me a favor?
Anything.
Could you repeat what you have just told me word for word?
I beg your pardon?

                                          • -

So, Ken.
Yes?
What did you think of our another situation?
Well, I can live with it.
You can live with it.
I can, c-a-n. No, no, no. It was great. It was very good. Well done.

So, Jeff, what’s another situation going to be like?
Well, this time, they are getting quite emotional.
I thought they were emotional enough, I mean …
Even more.
Even more. Oh, my goodness.

                                                • -

That squeaky door is driving me up the wall!
What squeaky door?
The laundry room door.
Okay. I'll see to it. Could you not leave the light on in the laundry room?
I don't leave it on.
It's on now.
That's because I haven't finished folding the laundry!
Oh, honey, don't be so touchy.
I'm not being touchy!

Come on in. Welcome to …
Oh! It's time for Rajio Eikaiwa. Let's go!

I know that tune and that doorbell ring!
That's familiar. Yeah.
Yes.
That made them happy. They weren't grumpy anymore.
Yeah. That didn't drive them up the wall.
Oh, yes.
