==========
Write It!
==========
Y: Um… I can think of two ways of saying this.
K: OK.
Y: OK, you can start with mentioning the restaurant.
K: Uh-huh.
Y: Like this, "In a restaurant at lunch time."
K: OK.
Y: Or you can switch it around and start with the "lunch time." So, it would go like this, "At lunch time, in a restaurant."

J: Yes. So, it's "explaining something" or "explaining 何々 to someone or 誰々." So, that would be the pattern. So, in this case, it would be, "a man is explaining 'osechi ryori' to his colleague.

Y: You can say it as "the food" or "the foods."
K: Oh, okay.
Y: It depends on what you actually mean.
K: Uh-huh.
Y: If you are thinking of the many different dishes, say in the "osechi ryori"... so they are different kinds, then you can use "the foods" in plural form.
K: Uh-huh.
Y: But if you are thinking of like "osechi ryori" as a whole thing, then you mean one collective thing. So, you use "the food" as singular.

K: help
Can you help me?
J: Yes. Uh... So, we're talking about the food or the foods, so, it would be "the foods are a great help."
J: And as Julia says you can also use it as one collective and say "the food is a great help."

***********

J: I'm pretty sure they did.
Y: Yeah.
J: They always do. Well done.
Y: Proud of them.
K: All right.
J: Great job.
