(0:18)
R: Akino Roza here.
C: Chris McVay here. As usual, that's not so funny.
O: Thank you very much.

=====================
◆ Feel English / Practice
=====================
(8:57)
C: OK guys, it's practice time and today we're looking at "under." Now "under" is so easy, it requires no explanation. So, let's focus on the variety of figurative usages as well for "under." OK? Let's go.

(figurative 比喩的な)

(9:12)
R: And let's think in English.

C: OK, first, physical one, "under the sofa"
"under the table"
Piece of cake, right?
Next, "under 20"
And the final one here, "I found the key under my bag."

(9:39)
Here are some more figurative examples, "under these circumstances"
"under the circumstances"
"under the influence of ~"
"under the rules of ~"

(10:00)
C: OK, here is the final group, "under discussion"
"under construction"
"under repair"
"under way"

(10:20)
R: You did excellent!
C: Well done, guys.

O: Hey guys, I have a question. What do you imagine the tooth fairy looks like?
C: Well, for me the tooth fairy is some cute, cute, little fairy.
R: Yeah.
O: Uh-huh.
C: And you?
O: Yeah, I imagine something like my teeth with eyes.

ラジオ英会話 Lesson 112 Tuesday, September 13

===========
◆ Opening
===========
(0:36)
R: Hey everyone, Akino Roza here.
C: Ugh... Chris McVay here. I said it before but that was not really very funny, you know. But we all laughed.

================================
◆ Right after the Japanese translation part
================================
(4:12): Well, you can relax if you use our textbook because all our examples and the explanations are easy to understand. Nothing is beyond your comprehension.
R & O: Copy.

=====================
◆ Feel English / Practice
=====================
(9:07)
C: OK, are you ready to practice?
R: I am.
C: Great! Let's do it. Today's word is "beyond." The basic image of beyond is going over or further than a certain boundary or limit. You might be interested to know that in British English, we sometimes say, "It's over yonder," meaning further than the eye can see.

(over yonder あの向こうに)

So, that notion of "beyond" meaning over a border, over a boundary is present.

(notion 概念)
(is present ~が存在する)

(9:34)
So, let's practice lots of examples, "beyond the lake"
"beyond this valley"
"beyond the horizon"
"beyond 24 hours"

(9:53)
R: Continuing on. Repeat after me.
"Some computers are damaged beyond repair."
And the next one, "Why he quit his job is beyond me."

(10:11)
C: OK, a few more, "beyond description"
"beyond doubt"
"beyond recognition"
And another very common one, "beyond belief"

(10:32)
C: Well done guys.
R: Your performance was beyond my expectations.

==========
◆ Ending
==========
(14:30)
O: I'm happy beyond belief when I'm with you guys.
C: Well, what you've said is very nice, but to me, it's beyond belief.
R: Ah, that's so sweet, Sensei.
O: I can't believe you said that.

ラジオ英会話 Lesson 113 Wednesday, September 14

===========
◆ Opening
===========
(0:15)
R: Hi guys, Akino Roza here. Are you ready for today's lesson?
C: Hello everyone, I'm Chris McVay. Let's enjoy our English practice together.

================================
◆ Right after the Japanese translation part
================================
(3:46)
R: Hey guys, don't you know how popular our textbook is? If you haven't already, you should check it out.

=====================
◆ Feel English / Practice
=====================
(9:33)
C: OK guys, let's practice. Well, today, we're looking at "behind." This again is very easy. So, what we want to do is look at physical examples first, and then move on to more and more figurative examples. OK? Let's begin.
(9:50)
R: And remember to think in English.

C: OK, here is a physical example. "She was standing behind the wall."
"She was standing behind me."
OK, very easy to understand, right?

(10:09)
R: "I'm way behind schedule."
"He's behind with his work."
"behind time"

(10:22)
C: OK, a few more, "behind the scenes"
"behind her smile"
"behind her change of attitude"
Right, you get the feeling there? Something is hidden, behind the change of attitude, some reason is there.
And another one which I like a lot, "Stop talking behind my back."

(10:54)
R: OK, and for our last example, "We're 100% behind the new CEO's plan."
Let's try this one again, "We're 100% behind the new CEO's plan."

(11:16)
C: Great!
R: Excellent work.
C: And we are 100% behind our listeners.
R: That's right.

==========
◆ Ending
==========
(14:18)
O: Hey guys, behind the curtain is the scariest place in a house, isn't it?
C: Well, I hate enclosed spaces, so for me, a closet is a much scarier place.
R: Sensei, I would think for you, the bathroom would be the scariest place in the house because it has a mirror.

===========
◆ Opening
===========
(0:20)
R: Hey guys, Akino Roza here. Ready for today's lesson? Let's go.
C: Hi guys, Chris McVay here. Now I promised I wouldn't say anything negative but I'm struggling not to.
I just keep my mouth shut and say, "Let's get on with today's lesson."

=====================
◆ Feel English / Practice
=====================
(9:15)
C: It's practice time. Today, we're going to look at the word "with" for the first time.
Now, the challenge today is, after the lessen is over, I want you to look at each example and figure out how this basic image of togetherness is in each example. So, togetherness is the key. Let's practice.
(9:36)
R: And remember, think in English.

(9:39)
C: Here we go, "I thought you always carried them with you."
Once more, "I thought you always carried them with you."

R: Here are a couple of short examples, "a girl with long hair"
"a girl with blue eyes"

(10:05)
C: Continuing on, "is familiar with that fact"
"go out with him"
"share the cake with her"
"agree with me"
"to begin with”"

R: Continuing on, "I'm pleased with your success."“
"I'm satisfied with your success."
"is angry with her"
"is careful with caffeine"

(10:50)
C: And the last one, “What's the matter with you?"
“What's the matter with you?"

(11:01)
C: Well done guys. Are you satisfied with your practice today?
R I know I am. Great work, everyone.

==========
◆ Ending
==========
(14:20)
O: Roza, what's the matter? You look a little shaken up.
R: I just passed by a huge poster of you.
O: Oh, really? My poster is pleasing to the eye, right?
R: No, it was terrifying.
C: Don't worry. Roza is like a good martini, she likes to be shaken, not stirred.

O: Hey Chris, do you use text messages?
C: Not really often because it's a hassle typing with a mobile phone, I think.
O: Ah, exactly.
C: Too small.
R: So, that's why you never respond back to me, Chris.
C: Oops, move on to the next topic?
