We go all out for the decorations. We set up "shimekazari" on our door.

It's a straw rope decoration. We also place a "kagamimochi" in our living room. It consists of "mochi cakes" and an orange.
Sounds fun.
Our least favorite part comes just before New Year's Day, though.

What New Year's tradition do you enjoy the most?
I like making New Year's food "Osechi." I usually make six or seven kinds of "Osechi."
What do you do with them?
We enjoy them with all the family. I especially like to make "Kikukakabu" or chrysanthemum turnips.
Are they eatable chrysanthemums?
Not really. "Kikukakabu" is a turnip cut to look like a chrysanthemum flower. Here, take one.
