So, what's another situation going to be like today, Katie?
Well, Ken, they sing their lines to the tune of "Old Folks at Home" as Pookie, their dog, joins them.

                          • -

Snowy, can you move over a bit? Mom and Dad, I'm making a solar oven for the school's science fair.
That's great, Leo!
I need a pizza box and aluminum foil. Here are the directions.
It looks relatively simple to make. It says you need adult supervision to cut the flap on the box.
(flap = A piece of something thin, such as cloth, paper, or other material fixed along one edge, especially used for covering or closing something)
Can we make it tomorrow, Dad?
Sure. Why not?
Let's order pizza for supper!
Yay!
Don't forget about me and Snowy.
No, we won’t!
Way down upon the Snowy River... excuse me.

Here's a talking dog making his debut, right?
Uh-huh.
The world is a wonderful place.

Well, I think Snowy appreciates cardboard boxes.
She likes them.
Yes.

                          • -

So what's another situation going to be like, Jeff?
Well, this time, they're working on a secret experiment.

                                  • -

So how does a solar oven work, Leo?
It uses heat and light emitted from the sun.
(emit = to send out a beam, noise, smell, or gas)
Uh-huh. Sounds good.
What's with Snowy? She keeps pouncing on my solar oven.
(pounce = to quickly jump on or hold someone or something)
She just wants attention.
Snowy, stop it. She poked a hole in it.
(poke = to push something quickly with your finger or a pointed object)
Snowy obviously doesn't appreciate eco-friendly technology.
No.
Now Pookie is chewing on my solar oven.
Pookie, drop it!
No way! I love the taste of pizza on the pizza box.
Meow too!
You too.

Uh… bilingual animals.
Yes, they are.
Bilingual pets.
Oh, I keep forgetting...
What?
You can help me.
Uh-huh
How does the ending of this program work? I mean ...
Oh! Well, you say "until next time" or something like that.
Oh, okay. Well, until next time...

ラジオ英会話 Wednesday, April 13

What's another situation going to be like today?
John is really not himself today.

                              • -

Where's Leo?
He took his solar oven outside. Snowy and Pookie were trying to destroy it.
(destroy = to damage something so severely that it no longer exists or can never return to its normal state)
But it's going to rain.
Well, I can't control the weather, this crazy weather we’ve been having for years.
John, what's the matter? You're not yourself today.
It seems like I've been going down the wrong path.
What do you mean?
I need to take steps and start living sustainably.
What is happened to you?
I'll tell you tomorrow.
(tomorrow = the day after today)

Oh no! Not tomorrow!
Wait a minute. Wait a minute. What is this? I thought you were in a church or something at the beginning. Well, I need to take steps and start understanding you a little more. Well, that's about it for today, so until next time
Keep listening
Keep practicing
And keep on smiling, and look forward to what is happening tomorrow.

ラジオ英会話 Thursday, April 14

What a great conversation.
Yes, and what a great piano playing in the background.
Yes.

                          • -

So, Jeff...
Uh-huh.
What's another situation going to be like today?
Well, this time, they don't know they're wasting a lot of water.

                            • -

Leo lectured me about wasting water while I was brushing my teeth.
Leo is such a little conservationist!
(conservationist = someone who works to protect the environment from damage or destruction)
I guess we should try to conserve water and recycle more.
(conserve = to prevent land, water, or other natural resources from being damaged or destroyed)
I agree.
What do you think of installing solar panels on our roof?
(install = to put a piece of equipment somewhere and make it ready for use)
(roof = the top outer part of a building)
That's a great idea!
It'd cut down on our electricity bill too.
(bill = the amount of money you have to pay for something)
So true. What's this water doing here?
Oh, it's the bath water! I forgot to turn it off!
What a (water) terrible thing to do!
I want to (water) stop it right now.
Wait a (water) minute. Don't forget to turn on Rajio Eikaiwa.

Wow! Wait a (water) minute. What's going on?
There's some kind of commercial at the end.
Yes.
What a terrible commercial.
Oh, my. (It) keeps going flowing like water. Well, this reminds me of my daughter.
Oh.
She lectured me about how to cook vegetables.
Oh, how to cook vegetables.
Kale and spinach and everything. Yeah.
So what was her lecture about? What was her advice?
It's a long story.
Oh, we have time.
I don't.
Oh!
