ラジオ英会話 Monday, March 12

It sounds very positive.
Yeah.
Hopeful.

            • -

So, what's another situation, Katie?
Well, Ken, Leo has to identify a little bigger creatures.

                                        • -

How's Leo's science fair project coming along?
Not so good. He's been up since dawn but not one has shown up yet.

(dawn = the period in the day when light from the sun begins to appear in the sky)
(dawn ⇔ dusk = the time before night when it is not yet dark)

Hmm...
He's one unhappy kid.
That's not good.
I have to hand it to you. I mean, constructing those dinofeeders was pure genius! But...
I don't like to see our boy unhappy. I thought he was going to wow his classmates!
Yes. I'm sure everything will turn out ... not so good
Run!!!!

                • -

Oh, OK.
Well, Ken, We've got hand it to you. You really wowed us with another fantastic program.
Yeah!
Oh, thank you. Well, on that note, until next time.

(on that note = ……と言うことで、では、それに関連して、それに関して言えば)

Sounds like a lot of work.
Yeah, and a lot of birds.
Yes.

                    • -

So, Jeff...
Uh-huh.
What's another situation going to be like?
Well, this time, Leo is counting elephants.

                        • -

Morning, Leo. How's it going?
I have no complaints.
How many do you figure are out there?
I lost truck of the count. Maybe 25.
Twenty-five? That explains it. Those elephants were making a big racket this morning. They woke me up.

(racket = 大騒ぎ a loud noise)

Look, Dad. There is an Indian elephant.
I could use some bigger earplugs.

                        • -

Wow. Big job.
Yeah. That explains it.
How did it go today?
I have no complaints.
We have no complaints.
All right.

So, Katie, what's anther situation going to be like?
They are cool as cucumbers.

                        • -

I hate to interrupt your conversation, but we are out of eggs.
I'll go pick some up. Be right back.
That cardinal is pecking the side mirror of the truck.
Uh-oh. What have we gotten ourselves into?
Hmm. He's mistaking his reflection for a male rival. I need a picture of that.
Don't go near that bird, young man.
But Mother, it's part of my science project.
Well, in that case go ahead, young man.
Do you want me to take you with the bird?
(鳥と一緒に写真撮ってあげようか?)

Why not?
Smile.
Ouch!

              • -

Oh, they're pretty cool.
Yeah. Until he got pecked on head.
(頭を突かれるまではね)

They got a picture of that.
Wow! Nice family picture. Well, I think I need a copy of that picture for our program.
Oh, that'd be nice.
Good idea.
But don't go near that bird, young man.
Oh wow! Would you say that again? Especially the last two words?
Young man?
Oh, yes! Oh, yes!

Well, that's about it for today.
Thank you, Katie.

That cardinal is still here?
Yes.

                      • -

So, Jeff...
Uh-huh.
What's another situation going to be like?
Oh, unbelievable! John loves the tapping sound.

                        • -

Mary, keep it up!
What are you talking about?
Keep making that sound. It makes me feel so happy.
Boy oh boy. You are in the great mood.
Yes, I am. What's that tapping sound?
It's our friend, the cardinal. Look out the window.
Why is he pecking at our window?
You tell me.
Maybe he wants me to feed him?
I guess you're right!
Here I come, Cardie. Woo-hoo!

                          • -

Oh! John gave that bird a nickname.
Yes.
He did.
What was the name?
(Nathalie)
Cardie.
Cardie. Wow!
It actually was very funny.
Yes,
So looks like he didn't get up on the wrong side of bed at all this time.
That's right.
Not this time. No.
Oh, yes.
(He) got up on the right side of bed.
Oh, yes.
But you know what, we still don't know where the jackhammer comes in.
I think that's for next week.
Ah!!
