K: What are the candidates?

K: So, Jeff, what do you think of your answer?
J: Hmm... well, my answer, "No, he asks Olivia to pick up the tab." sounds pretty good. I think this might be it. I'm not sure yet. Carolyn, how about yours?
C: Well, my answer No. 2 was or is, "Yes, he is going to pick up the tab." But I'm not so sure of that. Ken, how was your answer, No. 3?
K: Well, No. 3 is, "He can't make up his mind." Well, this is not good because he asks her to pick up the tab.
J: Yes. Uh-huh.
KCJ: So, the right answer is No.1: "No, he asks Olivia to pick up the tab."

J: Congratulations!
C: All right.
K: You did it. You did it again.

◆ Write It!
短い文を2つ並べてもいいのではありませんか?
K: What do you think, Carolyn, about this?
C: Well, yeah, I mean one possible way to write this is using the word "because" to connect the two ideas and it would be "Olivia picks up the tab because Noah is broke."
K: Right.
C: And that's fine. But sometimes we don't always need to use "because." We can just put two sentences side by side. For example, Noah is broke. Olivia picks up the tab." And it expresses pretty much the same idea.

K: You gave it away beautifully.
C: Oops!
K: Yeah.
C: Well, I didn't give it all the way.
K: I hope not. Doesn't matter, doesn't matter.

J: I know they did.
C: Great job!
K: All right.
J: Wonderful!
K: Excellent.

◆ Ending

K: You know, this is really terrible. Noah asked Emma out and then he asks her to pick up the tab.
C: I know. That's really awful.
K: Oh, yeah.
J: Yeah, I don't know (Noah) a lot about him, but uh… that's not right.
K: You don't know (Noah) a lot.
J: That's right... know (Noah) a lot.
C: Well, Olivia is such a nice person so, I know she'll help him out. I love you, Olivia.
J: Uh... that's kind of a stretch.

(a bit of a stretch 無理やり過ぎる)

K: I think Emma going to get some fresh air.
J: Ugh... that's another one.
C: Come on!
