Monday, April 13

C: Yes.
K: You need some light?
C: Uh-huh.
J: You need to take a break.

CJ: Sweet!

C: All right, Jeff.
J: Uh-huh.
C: You are the star.
J: Got it.

J: Okazuya is having a big sale.
C: Oh?
J: It's buy one and get one 50% off!
C: Sweet!
J: Yeah. Let's go!
C: All right.

――――
Say It!
――――
K: Jeff, are you ready?
J: What is it?
K: Oh, I mean, you know, would you try "What is it?" five times in one breath.
J: Oh. Oh, I see. You want me to do the "Say It!" OK. All right.
K: All right.

J: What is it? ×5

J: All right.
C: Nice.
K: Yeah. That was it.

――――

K: Carolyn-san, any pattern for this?
C: Yeah, Ken. There is a nice little handy pattern we can use here.
K: Let's hear it.
C: I would say, "So 何々 that 何々."
C: So, the phrase will be "So busy that she totally forgot."

J: Right. This is also a very simple pattern. You just say, "A, (comma) so B."
J: No, only when it's written.
K: A so B.
J: So it would be something like, "She needs some fresh air, (comma) so she's going shopping with Noboru."
―――

C: Bizzy and Noboru are going camping tomorrow, but Bizzy is so busy that she totally forgot. She needs some fresh air, so she is going shopping with Noboru.

J: Bizzy and Noboru are going camping tomorrow, but Bizzy's so busy that she totally forgot. She needs some fresh air, so she's going shopping with Noboru.

K: So Carolyn.
C: Uh-huh.
K: What's another situation going to be like?
C: Well, now, they are going to see a double bill.
―――

N: Bizzy?
B: Agh! I've got a gazillion and one things on my mind. Agh!!!

N: Bizzy?
B: What is it Noboru? Agh.
N: First things first. We're going to a movie tonight.
B: Ohhh, I totally forgot! What movie?
N: Rocky 9.
B: I thought it was Jaws 11.
N: That too. Twenty-Second Century OX is having a special deal.
B: Really?
N: Everything is see one, see the other one free.
B: OK. I'll go with you. I need a change of scenery.
―――

K: Twenty-First Century OX
C: Umm...
K: Well, that's a nice system. What was it again?
C: Yea, not bad. (It was) see one...
J: And see one free.
K: Oh, great!

J: Hmm...
K: I like that, "Hmm!!"
C: Lots of power.

C: Actually, I've heard both in Canada, リバー and レバー

J: All right, Carolyn. You are the star.
C: Sounds good.

J: I can't download this app.
C: Let me see.
J: I've tried twice already.
C: Third time's the charm. Here goes.
J: Wow! Look at that. You did it.

―――
Say It!
―――
K: Carolyn, are you ready five times in one breath?
C: I think so. Hope I don't run out of gas in the middle.
K: I hope not. You'll be fine. Let’s hear it.
J: Big breath.
C: Here goes.

C: Your chainsaw is out of gas! ×5

K: All right.
J: Almost out of breath.
C: I'm out of gas.

J: All right.
C: Nice.
KCJ: Nobody was out of breath.

J: Uh-huh. So it's just like in the dialog except, this time, it's not a conversation between two people.
K: Uh-huh.
J: The secret is in the stage direction. So we're going to put those two together. Um... so it wouldn't be "pull the starter rope." It would be "誰々" in this case "Dorothy pulls the starter rope." And at the end we're going to add the word twice.
K: There you go.

C: Well, in the dialog, we heard "third time's the charm."
K: Uh-huh.
C: So let's use "third time" here. And let's put "on the" at the beginning. So, it'll be "on the third time."
―――

Terry borrows a chainsaw from Dorothy, but it doesn't start. Dorothy pulls the starter rope twice but no go. It starts on the third time.

J: Good job.
C: Great.

――――――――――
In Another Situation!
――――――――――
K: So Jeff...
J: Uh-huh.
K: What's another situation going to be like?
J: Well, this should sound kind of familiar. Dorothy has lent the Cowardly Lion her ruby slippers.
K: Wizard of Oz.
J: That's right.
―――

C: Dorothy, I think your ruby slippers have run out of their magical power.
D: I'll be right there, Cowardly Lion.
C: Oh, they don't work. I can't go home.
D: I know a trick or two about these slippers.
C: Okay, clue me in.
D: Tap the heels and think to yourself, there is no place like home.

Wizard of Oz
Then close your eyes and tap your heels together three times. And think to yourself, there's no place like home.

C: Oh, no go.
D: Just wait. Third time's the charm.
C: You're right. Thanks.
C: Oops! I'm in the jangle. Dorothy, Todo.
―――

K: You forgot to click one more time.
J: Oh, yeah.
K: Third click is the charm.
J: Third click is the charm. That's right.
C: Indeed.
